Being partial to Sean Tyas, I hate to admit it. Unfortunately, there is some clear overuse of certain elements. That said, I don't want to confuse a producer's trademark sound with desperate copying. One could argue that pounding sound of his isn't worth shedding from one song to the next. It's part of what made people like his tunes, so why reinvent the wheel? The same goes for the pizzicato strings of early Sash! and Brooklyn Bounce.

Maybe you can appreciate this:

Andrew Parsons & Emphased Reality - Underworld Dreams (Hawk Remix)

Hawk - Need For Cognition (Original Mix)

I could say that those two are very similar stylistically and are a modern day continuation of the speed garage sound. Of course, since I love Hawk and this style so damn much, I would never say such a stupid thing out loud...er...woops! :-)
Current score: 2 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

For me as a clubber/composer/producer the music in general, no matter of genre, embraces it´s creators state of Soul and mindset, so melodies combined by latest tecnologics and styles is roadmap to look for later generation of styles and foundation of developing genres and sound.

So...When sound is good and it brings smile to ur face we know that we are in a right track, literaly.

Theese days producing has become a big part of whole prosess of making music and that is the main reason why people put lot of effort of mensioning that since the job emself is effortfull.

For someone of us it can be the easy part, for another ones composing part can instate be the easier part.

When we talk about dancemusic in general, there are so much of music that sounds good but wont create any feeling in us..but...it can give to anotherone big hype , even another one things that this cant even be called music, do you know what I mean..

So this leads me to conclution that music, in general can be heaven and hell, it depends of ones that are listen to it.

Genre and sound will always develope and there will be always somebody to evolve somebody´s sound and variete already made melodies... but...isnt that something that belongs to everybody?

Be the superstar and make your own sound, othervise just plagiate and maybe someone that listens to your music will catch up with it and invent something new.

But most important is the feeling bethween the line, drop of tear of happiness is climax of music.
Current score: 2 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Yup. overproduces, and the #1 problem is lack of melody, and lack of originality. James Holden had it right, he left trance for this exact reason, and being the genius he is, he realized 6 years ago.

Just look at In Search of Sunrise 1... and compare it to ISOS 7. Pretty much sums things up.

There are few that actually produce good stuff and try to be original, and Sied, Schossow, Zohar, are some of them.

But it's sad that the old classic sound is dead, and its turned into pump up the volume trance. old trance i preffered to listen to with the volume low. But now it has to be higher to get me into it.

lastly, yeah. timerland and mau5 and these hacks really are the reason why producers across the pond are losing their touch. they try to win America, the land of the tone deaf and melodically handicapped. land of auto-tune and boring beats.
Current score: 1 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

I dont't think the music is overproduced these days.
nowadays the new technology is made available for everyone - people might think its a good thing. I disagree. There is so much poor music out there. I always look back and listen to the classics like: Saltwater, touch me, Can't keep me silent, silence etc etc. There isn't many producers who can match that quality. Not even now - 10 years later...=/
Current score: 4 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

The trance sound has changed a lot in just a couple years, and i think it was nesissary. In the beginning, sounds and produktion were the same, but now can everyone spend time on their computers and being a producer.

I think that people wants overproduced tracks, becouse people has higher thoughts these days, and also more spoiled. They takes a great track for granted.

I´m with you on your Deadmau5 & Joonas Hahmo thoughts. They has absolutely taking it to another level. But this is just the beginning..

Nice website btw.. keep it up :)
Current score: 2 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)
